Summary:
Thor is a beautiful 2‑year‑old brown/red Cocker Spaniel who has lived with his family since he was a pup. He currently lives in a busy, often chaotic household with adults and two children and has grown up as part of family life. His owners are seeking to rehome him as they are no longer able to manage his behaviour or provide the time he needs.

Thor has had a very limited start in terms of socialisation and experiences. He is not walked and spends all of his time indoors or in the garden. His owners report that he barks at people passing the house and at noises outside, something they believe began after a frightening incident as a puppy.

Despite this, he recently visited a charity shop and behaved well with staff he recognised.
Thor is housetrained, clean overnight, and generally easy to handle. He travels well and settles in the car. He has shown no issues around food or toys and has never displayed aggression beyond barking. When a young child once pulled his ears, he used his mouth to move her away without biting.

Thor does experience separation anxiety and is not currently left alone, as he will bark when separated from his family.

Thor used to sleep upstairs but managed to jump over the baby gate to get back downstairs, he now sleeps anywhere downstairs.

Thor was an accidental litter with both his parents being siblings.

Ideal Home
Thor needs a patient, committed home ready to help him build confidence and learn about the world at a gentle pace. His perfect home will offer:
-
Regular exercise and opportunities for mental stimulation and enrichment
-
A calm, structured environment to support his progress with barking and socialisation
-
Someone home most of the time, with the ability to work on his separation anxiety
-
No cats, as he will chase
-
Either a family home or an adult‑only home – he is used to children and behaves well with them
-
Thor could live with another friendly, steady dog, as he currently lives with a resident older bitch.

Energy & Exercise:
Thor is not currently walked. When previously walked, he pulled on the lead and has no recall, so he will need gradual, positive introductions to walking, outdoor environments, and training.

Training:
Thor has had no formal training. He will benefit from:
-
Basic training foundations
-
Confidence‑building
-
Very careful, positive introductions to new people and dogs
-
Support with separation anxiety
He is food‑motivated and enjoys interaction, so he has lots of potential with the right guidance.
Behaviours:
Thor’s main behavioural challenges are:
-
Barking at people, dogs, and noises
-
Separation anxiety
-
Limited socialisation
However, he has many positives:
-
No guarding behaviours
-
Gentle with children
-
Friendly with the resident dog
-
No chewing or destructive behaviour reported
-
Good traveller
-
Easy to handle (though he may try to eat the brush!)
Meeting new people:
Thor is very lacking in confidence and will bark when meeting new people. His owners have said that he does not lunge or show signs of aggression.

Children:
Thor currently lives with two children and is well behaved with them.

Dog/Cat test:
Thor currently lives with a resident older dog (bitch) that he gets on with. Thor will bark at other/new dogs but is described as not showing aggression.

Cat free home required.

Home Alone:
Thor will require work with his separation anxiety,
