Buddy has an amazing character, he is incredibly friendly and full of life and enthusiasm, always happy and fun to be around. He is fast and eager to learn, very loving and wants to be involved in everything you are doing.

He absolutely loves his food and treats which work well during training and games, he will also settle very well and thoroughly enjoys cuddling on the sofa. Buddy knows the following commands, Wait, sit, stay, turn, lay down, he will also smile when excited, and he has also been known to wee when excited and nervous/unconfident.  Recall is particularly good in an enclosed field - even with other dogs as a distraction.

Buddy will chase a bird, chicken, duck and cat if they run, this is a work in progress.  He has walked past these animals on lead and he has also been introduced to horses and sheep - again on lead.

Buddy also jumps up to greet, this has been improving. He will thrive with consistency.

Buddy has been in foster with seven other spaniels in a home environment, they have shared beds, and a sofa, eaten food and played with toys together. He is a confident dog in this environment, he can play very roughly with the dogs that show they want to play, and he will also listen if told off by another dog.

Outside of the home Buddy is less confident passing and meeting other dogs, he is happy to go anywhere with you and will sit at your feet in a cafe or pub. He can become nervous and unconfident with strange dogs around, but this is improving, his fosterer gives him space when other strange dogs are around, and he will walk happily at a distance. Buddy will bark when nervous /unconfident with a lack of space between him and a strange dog. This is improving as he gains confidence, he just needs time and exposure.

Home alone - Buddy has been left for no more than 4 hours in 24 hours, he is with our other dogs and settles on a raised bed or the sofa, he is not destructive. When he first arrived in foster he would bark for attention when left.

Buddy can happily be rehomed with children aged five and over.  He has never bitten any person or any dog.

Buddy travels very well in a crate or on a seat belt and harness on the back seat, and also travels with and without other dogs. Buddy is happy to be touched all over although he is very wriggly when grooming. He is also happy to be handled by the vet. In the waiting room Buddy can become nervous around other dogs if they are barking but is happy to wait outside where he settles nicely, He will bark back at other dogs when he is anxious.

Buddy shows no signs of guarding behaviour against humans and is great around food toys and space. He will try removing long-lasting treats from other dogs' mouths when he has finished, but that is simply puppy behaviour.

Ideal home for Buddy:

Buddy would be equally happy as an only dog or with other dogs. He is very confident in the home and would need another dog that is an easy-going, forgiving and fun dog, that would be happy to be around a young energetic dog.

Buddy would be happy in a home with children because he likes to be the centre of attention.

He will thrive in an active home, a home keen on training a young dog that needs socialising and support meeting dogs outside the home on lead.

And don't forget those cuddles, Buddy loves to settle near you for lots of cuddling time!
