Meet Ben – A Gentle Soul Looking for Love!

 

Ben is a calm and affectionate boy who loves outdoor adventures, time in the garden and cosy moments on the sofa. He thrives on love and attention and enjoys nothing more than happily soaking up affection from people.

 

Whilst he is a relaxed and gentle dog, Ben can be a little nervous at times—he may squeal if he thinks he is about to be stepped on and can be startled by sudden movements. He is also wary of household items like vacuums and brooms but has never shown any aggression.

 

Ben has excellent manners, both inside and outside the home. He walks beautifully on the lead without pulling and is not bothered by cars or other animals passing by. He is not a high-energy, bouncy dog but enjoys a more laid-back lifestyle.

 

When it comes to companionship, Ben loves to sit by your side, and if you stop stroking him too soon, he will gently paw at you for more! Once he has had his fill of affection, he will either curl up next to you or find a comfortable spot of his own.

 

Ben takes a little time to warm up and fully settle in, but once he does, his tail wags with happiness. While he enjoys exploring the garden and can relax on his own when people are around, he struggles with being left home alone and will whine when you leave the home.  This is due to being left for very long periods in his previous home however, this is slowly improving and will continue to improve with patience, care, and dedication from his new owner.

Personality & Training

Ben has a gentle and affectionate nature. He isn’t a high-energy, bouncy dog but thrives on companionship and love. He is well-behaved on the lead, and his recall is good—though he enjoys taking his time sniffing and rolling, he never strays too far from your side. He is fully house-trained and knows "sit," though he can be a little stubborn at times. When taking treats, he may need a gentle reminder to be polite.

Social Skills

Ben can be a little shy when meeting new people but quickly warms up. He never jumps up and has excellent manners. He is good with other dogs and enjoys their company, though he has not been assessed with very excitable dogs. He also has great manners with cats—he may give them a sniff if they approach him but does not react otherwise.

 

Home Life

Ben loves being around people and enjoys companionship. While he is happy to relax alone in the garden or on the sofa when people are home, he struggles when left completely alone and may whine for a little while. He is not destructive and has never been heard barking when left alone. With patience, reassurance, and a good walk before being left, he should learn to settle over time.
