Daisy is a gorgeous, loveable girl. She is a young pup at heart but seems to have had very little life experience other than having puppies. She is such an affectionate girl whose only real requirement is to be cuddled and loved. Daisy is extremely gentle, and we’ve not heard her growl or bark. She is happy to meet new people and jumps up to greet everyone. She is good with dogs although she hasn’t been cat tested. Daisy has such soulful eyes which hold her sad life within them.
A Little About Daisy’s Past
Daisy was abandoned in someone’s garden, with her pups in a box tied around her neck.  She was thin, scared and covered in fleas. She had lost so much fur and was in so much discomfort. Her neck was inflamed where her collar was so tight.
She and her pups were signed over to Spaniel Rescue Foundation and were immediately treated for their skin condition and worms. They arrived in foster and quickly started to relax. Over the last 3 weeks, Daisy has transformed into a beautiful, happy dog who is loving her new life. Her skin has healed well, and her fur has started to grow back. She can still be nervous about certain situations (her tail goes between her legs), and some noises and movements make her flinch.
Ideal Home for Daisy

Daisy (or Daisy Mae to her friends) is looking for a home with loving, gentle owners to start afresh with her and build up her confidence. She needs to be rehomed with a calm and confident dog who can help her learn how to be a dog.

Adults/older children (8+): Daisy is not a very playful dog so would thrive in a home with adults only or with older, dog-savvy children due to her preference for a quieter environment.

Companion dog: Daisy will need another dog(s) with a similar energy level in her new home to help her grow in confidence.

Other animals: She has not lived or interacted with any cats or other animals whilst in her foster home.
Quiet environment: While she is not reactive to household noises like the vacuum or TV, a calmer household would be ideal. She doesn’t bark in the garden.
Personality and Behaviour

Affectionate & loving: Daisy loves to snuggle up on the sofa for a cuddle and enjoys being close to her humans, although she sometimes takes herself off to her bed.

Walks: Daisy is gradually getting more confident when she’s out walking and has started to run around off the lead and play with our other dogs. She does have some recall, although this isn’t consistent. However, when we’re out walking, she stays close and keeps returning to make sure we are still there. She pulls a bit when on lead or harness, but this will easily be rectified with positive training as she is keen to please.

Play: Daisy isn’t interested in playing with toys although she does like to take things and carries them around like her baby. She has a habit of stealing her puppies’ toys but again she only moves them to another room.

Calm around dogs: Daisy is happy to live with other dogs and has recently started to follow and chase one of our dogs around. She follows them in the woods but doesn’t join in with any rough play. Outside the home, Daisy loves to greet every dog she meets with a sniff, and she seems to enjoy their company.

Gentle: Daisy has never growled or even barked at a dog or person.

Sleeping: Daisy travelled happily in a crate when we first picked her up although we haven’t put her in one since. She will jump up onto our bed but she tends to sleep in a dog bed in the kitchen. She sleeps straight through and tends to wake us up at around 7.30am.

Travel-friendly: Daisy loves car rides and settles in very well.  She travels happily in the car and sits very nicely in the back seat with a seatbelt on and in the boot with the other dogs.

Separation Anxiety: Daisy shows mild separation anxiety and gets stressed if she can’t find us within the house. She also paces for a while when we leave her but does settle down. She is not destructive in any way.

Training and Health

Training: Daisy doesn’t appear to have had much in the way of training. However, she is clever and will enjoy training and learning, especially as it will mean spending time with her humans (which is her favourite thing in the world). She has learned to sit while in foster.

Eating: When Daisy arrived in foster, she wasn’t too keen on eating and was thin. We have gradually built up her appetite and have tried a range of foods to find what she likes. She now has two meals a day and currently eats Harringtons and Scrumbles (salmon) mixed with tinned sardines.

House Training: Daisy is partially house-trained. She is learning quickly but will initially need regular encouragement to go outside.

Lead Training: Currently working on leash manners and walking with a harness.

Vet Visits: Daisy is calm at the vet although she does find it a bit stressful.

Medical history:  As Daisy was a stray, we don’t have any previous medical history. She appears to be healthy, is fully vaccinated, and has been treated for fleas and worms.

Contract to Neuter: Daisy will need to be spayed in around 4 weeks. She will be adopted with a mandatory contract to neuter her.
